So they would have to do development work to make it so it could with no return on that investment and then open themselves up to more chances for piracy too. There is nothing preventing a single player mode for Diablo III other than Blizzard wanting DRM. People who actually buy that games these days REQUIRE a persistent online connection are just trying to fool themselves.

I mean there are a few semi acceptable reasons for it but this isn't one of them.
If he had said we wanted to stop pirates then yeah it sucks for us but understandable from their point of view (altough i disagree with the notion of illegal download=lost sale).
Also if he said we didn't want people to hack in the game(which was kinda easy in singleplayer on the previous versions and tons of fun if i might add).
But now he's saying we want people to play it in miltiplayer because its more fun to play together.... what he's forgetting tough is that they took almost all social aspects out of the game so it still feels likeyour playing on your own.
The anti-hacking notion isn't even worth mentioning; Diablo III has already seen its fair number of exploits already.
