3930k @ 4.3ghz on 1.305v stock volts = good/above average chip?

there is no issue on my chip at 4.3 on stock vcore according to my Ga-x79-up4.

going from that, what's the general vcore needed for 4.5-4.6 ghz?

not sure..... my 3930k did a 16 hour pass at 1.36v running 4.6ht
im sure it can run lower volts for 4.3 or at least do 4.5 at those volts.

hmm.... what would you say the temp increase would be going from 1.305v to 1.36v?

Should be easy to handle 1.36v, i must ask why you got two titans and a weak CPU cooler though biggrin.gif

When was a H80i weak? Sure it's not "real" watercooling" but it's still better than other options at the time, plus it gives me more room around the cpu/ram area to fiddle with, which is harder if i got a big DH-14 instead.


as for SLI Titans.... 1st one was back in February, 2nd one i got off ebay in July, so i am still enjoying GK110 for 8 months before the full actual chip came out this november, but i don't have buyer remorse over it. nothing else got 6gb Vram on the market anyway, i do see Batman AO eat up 5gb Vram one time.

It's not all about the cooler, some chips run hotter than others.. we need to see you current load temps.,

I don't think the H80i could handle 1.36v on this chip @ 4.6, but if it was a "cool chip" maybe... also frequency adds heat too.

4.3 at 1.36v will run much cooler than 4.6 running at 1.36v.

It's just that it's beat a ton both performance and noise wise by big air which is cheaper in many markets, significantly cheaper in some, and if you've got money and really care about the stuff you said, you can get big temp drops and also less noise with 2 or 4 fans on a 240/280 rad, available in clc's also

Can't really tell it's upper range overclock limits from just a low voltage OC. Those two can differ a lot. A chip could do a very low voltage at low clocks but hit a hard wall at 4.7. It really depends on the individual sample.

Mine does 4.3 at 1.25v but it's not the best clocker.... need 1.45v for 4.8Ghz. I've seen 1.36v for 4.8Ghz on other 3930k's on OCN.

By all means, see how far you can push it while keeping pime95 load temps under 75-80c.

That's true. It's because each multiplier has it's own VID which is the voltage value that is hard written into the chip for each multiplier. Your offset voltage always gets added to this VID (unless you're running manual voltage in which case frequency makes no difference).

For example on my chip:

At 4.5Ghz my VID is 1.3v. Adding my +0.030 offset =1.33v
At 4Ghz my VID is 1.23v. +0.030 offset = 1.26v

1.33v runs about 7c hotter then 1.26v at max load on my cooling setup.
