2x GTX680 sli or GTX780ti - Page 5

I know this is a reasonably old thread, but thought to put some input.
I had a 680, then contemplated SLI or selling it for a single 780 or possibly a 780ti.
Ended up getting a 2nd 680 - so I'm SLI 680.

I know my bottlenecks and problems though:
SLI 680:
-Possible micro-stuttering
-Power draw (although mine is under 500w for the WHOLE system on a 750w gold rated PSU)
-My 2GB VRAM on 1440p

However, the cost to performance ratio + RAW FPS of a SLI 680 system comes out on top.
If you were to take 4GB 680s then compare it - I would completely recommend the 680 setup.
However, THIS is all based on you CURRENTLY having a 680. Not starting from scratch.
By that I mean:
New PC - get the best single GPU you can get.
"Old" PC - looking for an upgrade -> I opted the SLI route. As selling my original 680, then buying a 780 would have cost a hell of a lot.

None of you guys have any obvious knowledge about gpu power, otherwise you;d know gtx 680 in SLI beats a single gtx 780 Ti.

Op if the cards are 4GB your good for 1440p, if they are 2Gb you might run out of VRAM. otherwise gtx 680 sli is miles better than a single 780 ti, contrary to what everyone else seems to think.

do remember though, you might run into SLI problems (ie shadow play)

The irony behind that, considering it doesn't make any grammatical sense, nor makes sense in English.

I was running a GTX 690 under water on a 1440p panel, as much as I loved that card it really wasn't cutting it with a lot of games (I like to max out settings).

Just switched to a single 780Ti Classified HydroCopper a few weeks back and the performance is on par (if not better) than my old 690, especially at 1440p
Seems especially obvious when playing games like Thief and Titanfall, where the higher VRAM, albeit only 1GB makes a world of difference.

Personally, I think you should grab the 780Ti classified and don't look back because you'll be more than happy with it at that resolution. thumb.gif

Just for reference:

Also have to take into account the 690 had a fairly large overclock as opposed to the 780Ti.

As for FPS, I usually manage to stay around 60 with a few barely noticeable drops in graphically intense places.
