Setting speeds to 2400mhz and computer doesn't boot? - Page 2

you have to overclock because your board(1866) and CPU(2133) don't support 2400 regardless that the memory does, VCCSA voltage can help but the chip and or board may just not support it.

you could also loosen the timing right up 13.13.13.33 2T
and see if it will boot

So what exactly do I try to adjust in the bios to see if the card can be oc'ed to accept 2400mhz?

Return the ram and get something 2133 and under or lower the clock on the ram and tighten the timing.

I would recommend that you see where it is stable then move up 100mhz at a time, if your close it will boot and bsod eventually, increasing VCCSA or IMC voltage may allow you to get there. I can run my i7-3820 at 2400 on an asus p9x79 deluxe board. See if you can boot at 2000, may have to temporarily move your bus speed down a little, adjust your ram divider settings and so forth. Its easier to move up you ram speed in small steps and adjust for stability than to jump all the way to 2400 and try to figure why it wont boot. Search you chip model and "VCCSA voltage" and you should get an idea on a max voltage for this setting- VCCSA will help you stabilize the speed on your CPU but your board is only rated at 1866 and I don't know any to overclock the lanes on your MOBO. Others may know more though.

Can you tell me the exact lines I should change in the BIOS for Asus? I have it running fine at 2100mhz with default timings.

1600 is the highest supported speed. 2400 is an overclock that the memory manufacturer is claiming the RAM is capable of, not your CPU.
