CLOSELY follow the steps in that thread.
You're basically making either a USB or CD bootable, putting the atiflash software on it, along with the rom file you want to flash, booting off of the usb/cd, and then flashing it with the corresponding command (single gpu: atiflash -p 0 biosname.rom | multi gpu: atiflash -pa biosname.rom). Make sure your cards are on the uber switch (closest to the power connectors/ away from video inputs), and that you have no other devices in your PCI slots.
The BIOS files are on this website:
Make sure you choose the Uber BIOS, not the Quiet one. Don't ask me which vendor to use because I'm not sure which one works.
I'm not the best person to say this, since I don't have the card yet, but that's how it should be done. I did this when I was fooling around with my 5770 (edited the BIOS to accept a 1920 core, and a 2890 memory speed...).
EDIT: After some thinking, I think the reason why the flash doesn't work on some cards is because you're trying to flash a 290x bios that uses elpida chips on a 290 that uses hynix chips (or 290x=hynix/290=elpida). Don't quote me on it. Just throwing it out there. So, try all 290x Uber bios files before determining that it isn't possible on your card.Edited by airisom2 - 11/15/13 at 12:12pm
