Well well well!
While playing BF3 (epic fps with these cards) GPU-Z read standard shaders for the 'supposed' 290x shader GPU.
When I left BF3 while checking back and forth between cards in GPU-Z after exiting the game gpu goes back to 28xx shaders.

Above is a validation of my second card idling showing 290x shaders/TMU's. The card has bus width/bandwidth so low because its card 2 and idling. On load the values go up.
After playing something other then BF3 to load up 3D; there seems to be a bug with GPU-Z reading the shaders/tmu's wrong with R9 290's, on load the values with any 3D open go down to where a 290 should be.
These reports of 290's being unlocked to 290x's might not be true after all.Edited by GenoOCAU - 11/16/13 at 5:37pm
