2700K 1st core stuck?

Thread Starter
Hi,

I recently tried a very mild overclock with my 2700K and was gonna push up from there, but came across a problem. I raised the cpu multiplier to 40 (so instead of 100x35 it was 100x40). Problem is, the first core stays at the stock 3.5ghz. All the other cores will overclock to the 4ghz, but core 1 stays at 3.5. Any thoughts on what can fix this, or what is causing the problem?

Motherboard is an Asus P8-P67 LE (not good for overclocking I know, but it should still be working...)

In the ss, look down at "frequency control".

I think you need some new monitoring software.

Intel's Core i CPUs are designed so that all active cores always use the exact same multiplier. You can have individual cores and threads going into various low power C States but it is physically impossible for one core to be running at a different speed than another core if they are both active and working on a task.

Fully load all 4 cores and if your CPU is still showing one core running with the 16 multi then ditch that program because it is providing you with inaccurate information. Post a screen shot of ThrottleStop if you are still having this problem. It reports data from each thread of your CPU. It also has a simple built in benchmark called TS Bench which can load your 4 cores for testing purposes.

Ok just ran throttle stop and it was giving me the correct 4013mhz. Glad to see its not a problem with any hardware.

Thanks!
