We're still in the flip over phase where folks are upgrading their 7950s to 290xes. There is a glut of used 7950 cards atm and as a result they are going for good prices.
I hear ya. I'm very aware that my CPU is way past its age, and I plan to upgrade it, but not right now. As it is, I'm willing to to oversee the performance I'll be losing because of it, if only to be able to play games not so well until next year.
