Required PSU Wattage for new PC

Yep, another one of those threads biggrin.gif

I'm planning on making new system soon, or at least parts towards a new system and am unsure of the PSU wattage I require. Based on a lot of what I've read manufacturers tend to over-rate their requirements, especially for video cards?

With that said my proposed system will include:

CPU: Intel Core i7-4770K 3.5GHz Quad-Core Processor
CPU Cooler: Corsair H100i 77.0 CFM Liquid CPU Cooler
Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-Z87X-UD4H ATX LGA1150 Motherboard
SSD: Samsung 840 EVO 250GB 2.5" Solid State Disk
HDD: Western Digital WD Blue WD10EALS 1TB

And either 2x R9-290's, or 2x 780 classifieds.

I plan to overclock the cpu and video cards. Can anyone give me an idea of the proper wattage rating I should be looking at for my PSU?

You'll need a 850w unit minimum for light to medium overclocking.

If you're a bencher and have the proper cooling to be able to push 1.3v+ on your the said gpus, then opt for a 1200w unit.

It's all what kind of clocks and voltage you'll use.
