Computers can't connect to wireless network

Thread Starter
There are 5 computers which as of yesterday... and months before.... were able to connect to the linksys SRX router. Today, only 1 computer (the one closest to the router) can detect the network but cannot connect, and the other 4 do not detect it at all.

The problem lies within the routers wireless function, as I am directly connected to the router via ethernet cable on one computer with no problem.

I've tried....

restarting the router, cable modem, etc.
repairing the network connection
restarting computers
unplugging all connections and waiting 5 minutes on router

Nothing has been brought in or added to my house that wasnt here yesterday when the wireless connections were working.

what the heck is up?

Linksys SRX 200

WRT54GX2

Is it a POS? I thought Linksys's were good wireless routers.

Yep, linksys router

I hate my router with a passion... it deserves the pointy end of a sledgehammer... I HATE IT... the reason it isn't demolished is because its the only one we have right now...

Try a different router from a friend if you can, otherwise... not really sure.

The thing is, everyone on my street has the same router as me.

What is the best and most reliable wireless router out there?

If you can, try to take your computer and connect to one of your friends networks, see if that works, if it does, it might be the range of your router.

Can your other 4 computers see the network or not at all?

I'm not sure on the best wireless router, guess whatever works, at least for me

So from what I understand, they cannot detect your router, and only 1 can detect and connect.

If there are many walls between your router and your computers, the signal will degrade fast, as well as the router sitting on top of a metal surface.

Where is your router currently located at? Like height, and how far are your other computers from the router?

Have you tried calling tech support? I know its radical but it's always worked for me in the past. Maybe if you can get on wired, you need to change the wireless channels. The exact same things used to happen to me all the time and it was fixed by choosing a different channel.

EDIT: Don't just try one channel and give up, try them all if you need to.
