I really don't like the swiftech/hydrocopper block either, but I don't think VRM cooling on those cards is entirely necessary, as the temps will still be in spec with passive cooling. That being said, i have an EK block on my card with active cooling
its more of a "peace of mind" kind of thing.

They should make this card ONLY available in two versions:
1) With a REAL air cooler, like the ACX from EVGA.
2) With a built in water block, like the Hydro Copper from EVGA.
What sets the ACX apart from other coolers? I know it has really nice fans ( quiet bearings), but do they use some special heatpipe / vapor chamber configuration?
