among the issues with intel turning the boats back for PCie add on thunderbolt it still requires a TB header which leaves all the current and past year system to rot and SOL.
They could have just deliver the signal without converting, it is all cooper wire after all.

Cat7/7a is capable to go 100G. Basically we havent really fully use the RJ45 to the fullest yet. There are a lot of potential in that cable. RJ45 is Cheap to make. I still dont get why they want HDMI and now this one.

I wish I could run everything from A/V, internet in 1 single cable. not multiple diff cable standard. This is just yet another attempt to make money like HDMI.

I don't know why they don't use simpler cables like with network cables. Their cables do have some sort of chips in the Thunderbolt connectors. I don't know why that's needed and can't be inside the header instead.
PCI-E or not, it is all digital signals, all u need is a chip to do the translate job like how we seen in HDMI via LAN. Lets not forget RJ45 is capable to deliver 100w which is enough for most mid-end GPUs.
