Drive wiped after Windows7 install?

Thread Starter
Hey, I reinstalled Windows 7 after getting fed up with W8, and that abomination they call Windows 8.1, and now it appears that my 2TB drive has been wiped?
It doesn't show in My Computer, and in Disk Management it doesn't have a drive letter, and it shows as three volumes with 100% free space?

Thanks.

It does not help you now, but next time disconnect all other drives except C: when you are installing/updated Windows.

Have you tried right clicking on the drive to see if you can assign a drive letter?

It would be very useful if you would redo that screenshot so that it includes lower pane also, which shows each physical disk with the partitions on each one.  That screenshot looks weird to me because it seems to be indicating that there are partitions on that drive, but that they have no filesystems or drive letters assigned.

What did you do on the Windows 7 installation screen to erase Windows 8?  You have to be careful with the "Delete" and "Format" buttons, because they can erase stuff!  Chances are that your data on those is mostly intact because it would take several hours to actually erase a 2 TB HDD.  Most likely, partitions were deleted or formatted, and data recovery, while possibly tricky, should be possible. thumb.gif

    P.S. I'm with you on the Windows 7 vs. 8 issue. wink.gif

Well, I got antsy yesterday and formatted the whole thing out of frustration, but there were three partitions and three instances of unallocated space on the drive, and EaseUS Partition Recovery wouldn't let me recover it because of the primary partition limit, so I had to delete partitions off the drive to apparently recover it, which makes no sense. I didn't really loste anything important anyway, thanks for the help, though.

The main issue I had with 8.1 is the mouse lag, that made everything seriously unplayable, and in my opinion, applying small fixes doesn't fix an ultimately broken OS. Besides there are still so many compatability issues with 8, and the performance increase isn't really there, so I don't see a reason to use 8 over 7.
