2. You may need the pixel patcher first. See Salamacha's link at the beginning. It also may only work with certain drivers - my AMD has no trouble with 1080@120 after just doing the pixel patcher and CRU (I assume that's what you mean by "customer res utility"). In CRU I put it in the specialty resolutions (up top), not standard resolutions field.

Just came to edit my last post but I got 120Hz working. Problem was using the "standard resolution" instead of the "detailed resolution". Must say that 1080p actually looks pretty damn good. I'm impressed. If I didn't know any better I'd say it was native 1080p just about. Nice.

As far as the tuner is concerned I can't get an external one. Cable company doesn't have anything like that. My issue is why is it not working out of the box? I have a "DTV" option under the menu but it's grayed out.

Maybe someone else will have some insight.

Other than that not a bad TV so far. Picture is decent enough and the 4K is amazing...almost TOO crisp!

3840x2160 is basically native 1080 and 720, being a straight multiple of each.

If you can channel tune with the tv, you can plug in an aftermarket tuner and channel tune with that. Of course it may have the same problem if it's a cable provider issue. Test by trying it on a different tv maybe.

Ahhh, I upgraded to the modded 50 inch firmware on the the OP (first firmware I tried...any differences?).

It added the QAM option to the "Channel" menu. So the digital channels work fine now. HDTV is perfect!

So yeah, now I'm totally satisfied with the T.V. Nice picture for the price, true 120Hz 1080p, 4K! Only downside so far, really, is the speakers...but that's a small price to pay IMO.

So I have triple 1080p monitors now in Eyefinity (dual R9 290's) on my desktop. I have them set up as one is HDMI and the other two are DVI. All on the first card.

I was wondering if anyone knows how I could use all of them at the same time...or possibly switch seamlessly between T.V. and Eyefinity when I need to.

I'm thinking HDMI switch...but that would only switch one of the monitors. IDK...ideas are welcomed.

Does anyone else have SUPER sensitive volume? 0 is silent...1 is quite loud. Volume above 5 is unbearable. And that's out of 100.

EDIT: Also, the T.V. speakers don't turn off when you plug in headphones into the headphone jack. Can't turn off the T.V. speakers either.

Hmmm...other than this the T.V. is great! tongue.gif

Run tv through your pc. Ditch one of the 1080s and run the other two on either side of your 2160. Does that mean all are stuck in 30 hz though?

The speakers are terrible. I just bought a logitech pair and never looked back.

Anyone else having an issue playing games @ 1080p and 120Hz?

When I play a game @ 1080p (even with the desktop at 1080p and 120Hz) the display will switch to 4K and 30Hz DESPITE the game being in 1080p.

Like, the resolution is 1080p (as I can tell by the pixel size and RivaTuner OSD size) in game and on desktop but I'm limited to the 30Hz of 4K despite 120Hz working fine on the desktop.

The speakers aren't good. I use headphones from my pc. As a backup they are okay I guess. I never put the headphones into the tv directly. You should seriously consider getting cable input to your pc and watch tv through it.

Next, games are a bit bad at adjusting resolution. In most games you can't set the fps, and if you set it to 1080 the gpu will happily keep things in 2160@30. The way around this is to put your monitor into 1080@120 before entering the game. I have ccc presets for 1080@60 (most important as this one will always work!), 2160@30, 2160@24 (nice for dvd style media at 24 fps), 1080@120, and 720@120.

The resolution is set.

The moment I open a game, even if it's already configured to run in 1080p, the T.V. will show that it's running in the 4K and 30Hz in the info window that pops up when resolution changes.

So basically:

Desktop is 1080p and 120Hz

Game is set to 1080p.

T.V. says it's switched to 4K and 30Hz when the game is launched.

Refresh rate is locked at 30Hz despite the T.V. running in 1080p.

So basically, 1080p and 120Hz works on desktop but in games it only works at 1080p and 30Hz...at least from what I can tell...V-sync is locked at 30FPS with games.
