Help! - choosing the right graphics card

I, a complete beginner in computer tech, have been looking for a new graphics card for my Dell studio xps 7100. The CPU is a Phenom ii x6 1035T. My friend was explaining to me that buying too good of a graphics card would be a waste of time because the processor would bottleneck the graphics card. My question is: What are the best value graphics cards for this cpu? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

welcome to ocn. your cpu might bottleneck . so try and overclock it to 3.5+ ghz. mention a budget. right now a HD 7950 at USD 200 - 220 is a good deal . grab this card when its back in stock

If I can't overclock the CPU, would this card still be worth the money? It seems like a very good deal though. Also, are you sure this card would fit in my case? My maximum budget is around 200 dollars.

Can you give us your power supply full wattage and maker, that's the first thing to check. This will let you know if and what type of GPU your system is capable of running. Also, what are you going to be using the GPU for?

Its a 460w psu. I can't find what brand though. I will be using the card to play games such as skyrim at 1080p at average or better settings.
