Choosing a graphics card for a workstation

Thread Starter
Hello all, I'm building a workstation for a friend who designs kitchens. He uses software like SketchUp, Chief Architect and Cabinet Vision. Budget is around $300-$400. I'm really uneducated in this area so any help at all would be appreciated.

i don't think there is a need to spend that much. all the software you listed depends just on openGL (duh) and a R270X for ~$200 just might fit the bill. but if want to be sure than a R280X for ~$330 with a little more vram and stream processor will definitely be good.

i don't think there is a need to spend extra money on a firePro card . .

For those programs, a gaming card (AMD or Nvidia) that supports OpenGL 2.1 or higher will suffice. Definitely no need for a workstation card.
