Upgrade

Thread Starter
I am upgrading my system and I need help. I have a budget of about three hundred dollars.
I have a gigabyte fm2 a85 upd4 (i think that's right I'm at work at the moment). I already have 16gigs of ddr3 1866 ram. And I have the a105800k.

My question is do I go 760k and card or a10 6800 and crossfire or a10 6800 and disable onboard and get card. I will be playing games like skyrim, wow, diablo, sims 3, sim it's, dragon age. Audio and image editing. No video editing.

I have a cooler and a large enough case, c70 as well as a rosewill capstone 550w modular psu 80 certified.

1680x1050 Rez

I need a CPU and card no matter how you spin it, fm2 socket

Help?

I think you're just fine with a A10 5800K,you won't see much of a difference upgrading to a 6800K.
You might get better overclocks with a Athlon 760K as it has no built in GPU,although I'd keep the 5800K and get a dedicated GPU to crank up the detail in the more demanding games.

Ok. My main concern was that the 5800 was not able to keep par on a CPU level with new games. I could overclock it but I would need a better heatsink and fan. What gpu would you recommend?

I'm wanting to get something affordable but I can max out those games I listed at that Rez or a little below. Also a good gpu means on my next build I won't have to get that

The 5800K is a little slower than the FX4300,and I've been reading around the forums that anything more than a GTX770 or R9 280/280X would probably be bottlenecked to some extent, although you could carry it over to a new build. A GTX760 or R9 270X would good options as well, depending on how much you'd want to spend on a graphics card.

I have been looking at the 650ti Boost or the R9 270 both 2G versions. Using the money left over for a new cooler to OC my cpu.

The 650Ti Boost may have an edge over the R9 270 in some games, but the R9 270X is faster, doesn't usually cost much more than the 270 and overclocks well too.
Are you on the stock AMD cooler? A good step up from that is the Coolermaster Hyper 212 evo. If you want to go with water cooling, there are a lot of closed loop coolers to pick from.
