Hey guys posting my 1st build log here at OCN. thumb.gif

Made an acrylic stand for the XSPC Photon 170 Res/Pump because I could not find any space to mount it in this case. Also test fitting the rad and push/pull on the front.

Gutted!!!

for those who wanted to know..... XSPC Photon 170 Res/Pump combo works with the Bitspower D5 Upgrade Mod kit.

Subbed, because I'm curious of this res/pump combo.
Looks like I'm going to have a hard time to mount mine.

Can you post details of your custom stand with some photos? smile.gif

I got a piece of .220" thick Acrylic sheet from Lowes , cut it to 3" wide and 15" long. Heated up the acrylic piece with a heat gun where I wanted to bend it and bent it to a L shape. Then I drilled 4 Holes for the Photon mounting bracket and 4 holes on the bottom for my case. I used different screws, but they are the SAME EXACT THREADING but longer and got nuts to mount it from the back. Then I spray painted it Flat Black to match the inside of my case.

here it is test fitted it in my case before I painted it black.
bad quality because its cropped. haha

Warning: Spoiler! (Click to show)

It turned really well and fits compact design of pump/res combo
+rep

I'm just wondering if decoupling res form the stand with some foam/rubber/silicone is worth the trouble.

Love the case and I'd like to do something similar next year.
Do you reckon there would be enough space for a Monsta rad
in the front with a similar configuration ?

Good luck with the build.

Honestly i'm not quite sure what you mean. I think of the word decouple as separation or detach.
Detach the res from the stand? or do you mean adding foam/rubber/silicone to the stand ?

If you remove the drive bay you definitely can use a 360 rad.

***Update on Process***

1st GPU water block installation went smooth, but while I was finishing up the 2nd one there was one screw that had lots of play and wasn't screwing in. Took it apart and found that one of the stand offs was missing! doh.gif
Waiting for a replacement WB from Performance-PCs to be shipped out on Monday.

You can see 2nd row from the bottom, left hand corner shows which stand off is missing.

I proceeded to test fit both Radiators with Push/Pull config

Removed the optical drive bay for more visual options but I am able to rivet it back on or modify it to screw back on if I decide to.
Modified a single HDD mount up top.

If I go with the 360 on the front I would either have to make a stand to mount the rad a little foward and cut the front to be able to use 6 fans in push/pull or just use the bottom 4 fans for push/pull and a single 5th fan on the top inside because of the removable grill points being in the way. I can also modify to use a 360 at the top but I definitely need a place to mount a single hdd.

options options options.....

Would it be possible for you to measure exactly how much length the Bitspower D5 Upgrade Mod kit adds to the pump?

I have the Photon 270 D5 combo and it's a really tight fit already. So much so I'm all-but-certain already that there isn't going to be enough space for adding whatever I imagine the few mm's the mod kit would add to it, but still I would really like to know for sure.
