You are better off in getting quality headphones versus getting surround sound headphones.

Hey thanks for the suggestion Juggalo, these headphones are a little over budget is there a model that is less than $100 but still just as good as the one you suggested or similar?

I like the Superlux and SR850 but i wouldnt mind paying a little more 10-20 if i can get some stronger build quality headphones.... unless are those already built really well? I dont want it to break from simply putting it on my head like what happened to my current headset mad.gif

I like the open ear design as well. So far these suggestions are good! My friend told me Sennheiser was a good brand for headphones, is there a good headphones in my budget (under 100) with Sennheiser?

Hi guys, dont mean to double post but im going to go to my local Frys and BestBuy to see what they have available. Is there anything i should be looking for ? Besides the a wide range of frequency response? The Superlux ones said they were 10hz - 30k hz and i cant find any Sennheiser headphones for less than $100 that has a frequency response as good as the Superlux HD668B.

What am i looking for when i goto the store? I think my friend said he saw some Pioneer headphones in my range, how will i know if a product is good besides looking at the frequency response? I need this strictly for gaming. I might just get a clip on mic online but my main concern is to buy headphones today.

Will any headphones work as long as i use the surround sound software like that Razer software that was linked earlier? Thinking about just buying some headphones today and not waiting for an online order.

I personally think that the Astrogaming A40's are the best gaming headphones I have owned to date, but definitely out of the price range that you specified. I went through many different headsets due to poor quality and/or construction and just decided to invest more money and get quality ones.

  • Very good sound quality
  • 5.8 GHz Wireless with good range (and no 2.4 GHz interference like most other headsets)
  • 8-10 hours of battery life when used with the rechargeable battery pack.
  • Replaceable microphone boom.
  • Astro Mixamp with 4 different EQ modes.
  • Dolby Digital 7.1
  • Work off digital in/out.
  • Customizable headphone cup tags
  • XBox and PS3 compatible (It will work on XBox One and PS4 as well).

Also, their customer service is great.

The A50's are nice as well but I did not like the fact that you could not replace the microphone boom and rechargeable battery pack like you could with the A40's. The upside to the A50's is that the wireless module and battery is integrated into the headphones.

My previous headsets I have owned were:

Creative Labs GH0100
Turtle Beach X12
Logitech G35

I ended up buying this Sennheiser HD201 S headphones for $30 at my local Best Buy. there were some for 80-100 dollars but they didnt have as good freq response as the Superlux headphones mentioned earlier in this thread.

Im going to try that Razer software too. Hopefully it works out when im gaming.

Ok i plugged them in and played a game of Battlefield 4 and the sound was not even bassy, the sound felt really cheap and it felt a lot less "immersive" i dont know.... i feel like i just wasted $30 on these headphones....

When i play some music of mine; the headphones start to distort from how "bassy" the song is.... it isnt even maxed out...... Im disappointed mad.gif

Well you get what you pay for... 30$ is not going to bring you even decent headphones, so yeah, you honestly wasted it. Try returning them

Oh, and never look at the frequency response numbers, look at the graphs: Warning: Spoiler! (Click to show)
No wonder the HD201 didn't have "boom" in the bass....

I see. It makes sense. I guess i wanted to cheapen out but thats definitely not something i can do if i want to have the bass and quality i want at the same time. Thanks for your input Tiiokatti.

I remade a thread and cleaned it up, but i guess now i am going to save up for better headphones. Not sure if its illegal or something to have two threads at once about the same topic so heres the link to the more active one i guess.
