I7 EXTREME EDITION 3970X AT 4,944 GHZ WITH VCORE in 1,456 v. IT'S SAFE ?

Dear All,

Greetings from Brazil !!!

I have an Core I7 Extreme Edition 3970X at 4,944 Ghz (overclock mode). My mobo is an ASUS P9X79 Deluxe and my cooler is an Corsair H100i.

My Vcore is in 1,456 v to achieve this speed. I am using the asus software called Turbo EVO to achieve this speed.

My doubt is : working with this voltage for long times IS SAFE ?

There is a risk to burn my CPU ?

According "Real Temp" software, my MAX temp is about 52 degress in idle mode.

Thanks in advance.

Regards,

Intel lists the TCase as 66.8C. I'd keep it under ~60 for 24-7 use and under ~80 when running stress tests; temperature would be the primary concern. This guide has a ton of great info on various voltages: http://www.overclock.net/t/1189242/sandy-bridge-e-overclocking-guide-walk-through-explanations-and-support-for-all-x79-overclockers . Sounds like 1.4V vcore should be the absolute maximum, so if you are concerned with longevity, I'd keep it at/under that.

Also, I've heard that Intel does next to nothing to check if a processor was overclocked if it fails under warranty. Additionally, you might also consider buying an overclocking protection plan http://click.intel.com/tuningplan/ . With that, I'd imagine you'll get at least two replacements within the warranty period hassle free.
