can the tunning program be used if the chip has been delidded and lapped??? dont they get the serial off the IHS, it was a retail version so i have the box, mine is worse than the op's and requires 1.4v for 4.4GHz and this is under water.

Lesson 1, check cpu's ability before taking its lid off and sanding it down frown.gif

Delidded may be possible, a couple people have spoken with Intel customer service & said the chip was delidded & still got the OK to RMA it. If the PCB is damaged that could be grounds for denial.

Lapped will probably get denied, the info on the IHS has to be readable. Can't hurt to check with CS but don't get your hopes up.
