Have you tried a lower hz. Try something like 96hz and see if it works

Does it only do this when overclocked?

Not all panels can take 120hz.

Even those that can sometimes have issues on stock DVI cables / power bricks, or on certain GPUs.

My X-Star takes 130 on my 680 Lightning, stock DVI, stock power brick but with a US power plug instead of the Korean power cord with an adaptor on the end like most people use.

131-133 and I get 1-2 scan lines every once in a while in certain games. 135 and my Nvidia drivers refuse to attempt it. I could probably get around that by overclocking with one of the many "safer" utilities, but I'm sure it would just pop more scan lines on the screen (at least with the current cable) and even if swapping cables/bricks, the image would be too dark to compensate with increased gamma even for everyday use.

That said, I had to RMA my lightning and was using my 560ti DCII for about a month. The 560ti couldn't take the panel past 98hz at all. I settled on 96 for the time and although I now have my 680 back, I still use the 96hz as my "daily driver" as the colors are better, and there isn't a huge fluidity difference between 96hz and 120hz in most of my activities (photoshop, videos, games like planetside 2 and guildwars 2 where I'm never getting 120fps anyway, etc).

At any rate my point is you might have to play with it if you really want 120hz, but you might never get there, and even if you do, 96hz might be a better number to use anyway.
