Thinkin of switchin to C2D need good memory - Page 2

The *worst* DDR2 800 has enough headroom for the average overclocker. They are good up to a FSB of 400 (versus the stock 266).

Personally, I'd get the cheapest compatible 2gig DDR2 800 set that boots at lower voltages.

Look at your system barran. Your running an 8800GTX an E6600, a 680i, and a 150gb raptor with another one. If your going to ****ing pay that much might as well go with good ram. But if your on a budget then why??? Its just stupid.
Yea but you should see the games!! good ram is just... well, good! Also the poster did not say he was trying to do it on the cheap. Computers are costly things and if you are trying to stay on the edge you are going to drop some cash.

Are you really trying to argue this with me? Ok well if you are. Find me benchmarks that will show me that that ram will give you more FPS for 80 than that G.Skill. Then show me the FPS between a 7900GT and a 7950GT. Tell me which will offer you higher FPS.

Stop being stupid

the performance you get might not be worth it to you but it is worth it to me knowing that I have name brand stuff. if you are pinching every penny then you are right ram is the place were you can get away with it. When I put a new computer together I try to make all thing's =

well as long as you agree. Me on the other hand in a gaming PC its always GPU->CPU->RAM

This will always yeild the highest FPS for your money.

This memory is in the 300-350 set. It isn't DDR2800, it's DDR2 1000 but it's well worth the extra dough.

this is the memory that I have and it rocks. It is a little over you price range but it is a very good option. IMO

Yeah, his option is very good as well. I'd narrow it down to some GOOD G.Skill, the Ballistix or Team Xtreem (above poster option). Those are all VERY good quality RAM, and will DEFINITELY give you the best bang for your buck. RAM isn't the place to skip on, trust me.

Oh and Sora, er, what would a good GPU with a severe bottleneck make?
