The Crucial is $309 and it is plenty future proof at DDR2-1000 CAS 5 and D9.

Also i'm running the max my mobo lets me which is 2.15v..even at these volts the ram never gets that hot at all
Maybe you and your 8 friends bought that Gskill when they put D9's on them, maybe they don't now, maybe you could get promos or D9 luck of the draw. I don't think all Gskills, that aren't the HZ's will have D9's. And I can tell you right now, if you can hit 590fsb, you have D9's no doubt. No set of promos is going that high, no way, and trust me man usually the somewhat cheaper stuff does not have D9. Personally I wish you would stop telling people to buy cheap ram, cause some of them may get some promos sticks, and they will NOT be hitting 590 or even 500 with that stuff.

Getting D9's on the cheaper performance ram? Yes, like paul said, you were lucky, along with these eight people you know I guess. You should be telling people get the cheapest they can, that they know to be micron. Is that Gskill you link to D9??? Are you sure???? Really really sure??? They could be using promos on it now but call it the same kit #, Corsair has done that, so have other manufacturers. Wouldn't surprise me with that kind of priced ram. It just pisses me off when they throw promos on expensive stuff, like freakin Corsair did. If it could be promos, you're telling people to buy ram which will never, in a million years no matter how many volts, perform like yours do.

That's the whole point here, who gives a crap what brand, just make sure it's D9's if you're an fsb lover, there's no other way to go. If those particular Gskills you bought do still have D9's, great people buy them *skeptical look on face*, if they have promos...good freakin luck over 450fsb for whoever gets them...end of story with a huge fat lady singing. I think D9's in mid-price ram happens by luck, it's the chips they had at the moment or whatever. They will not always do that, and like Paul said you're lucky if you got them. D9's are almost always in higher priced ram, but you can believe what you want, I guess we all could have been buying cheap stuff for uber fsb this whole time...stupid us .

Weird how that works eh? me and about 8 other people got them. Hrm so far thats 9 people who bought them and got higher than 500mhz out of 9. Hrm man sounds like pretty good odds to me. I'm not saying buy the cheap stuff. This stuff isnt exactly super "cheap" in DDR2-800 terms. So then you dont think theres a possibility of these ram chips being just not up to snuff with their HZ's and were lowered in volts? If youll notice those say 1.9-2.0 while the HZ's are 2.1-2.2

Sounds quite like the C2D's when they lowered the multiplier and locked the cache becuase they werent up to snuff with a certain C2D.

So far 9 out of 9 over 500fsb seems like a damn fine ratio to me. I would buy then and if i was the 1 out of 10 that didint get a D9 I would just RMA them. Going by the odds and the comon sense of how the way G.Skill makes their ram I think its a pretty safe bet to say its a good choice.

Those "value" sets are good up to a 400FSB remember. So even "value" ram, has enough headroom.

400*7 = 2.8ghz (plenty fast)

500*7 = 3.5ghz (overkill fast)

To Micron Fanboys:
Remember, you can use dividers! You don't need a 1 to 1 ratio!
