For gaming I use a generic 32" HDTV...size was the most important factor for me. I scored this sucker on Amazon for a tad over $200:

Here's the quick review I posted on Amazon: "To find a 32" 1080P TV for less than $220 is awesome. My particular specimen has no dead pixels, which is a good thing for someone like myself. I bought this TV for use as a monitor on my gaming rig.

For today's typical FPS, the TV is perfect, with very low lag. There is some minor blur from black to color when playing retro games like Super Mario, but it's not noticeable during play unless you look for it.

I recommend this display for use as a gaming monitor. I used a DVI - HDMI adapter to connect my media PC. Even the sound comes through, although you will absolutely want external speakers. The TV's speakers leave a lot to be desired...not even an added subwoofer would make them tolerable."

I thought TV's had horrible input lag??

I'm confused redface.gif

Some do, some don't.

My Samsung 46" for example normally does but it also has a "game mode" which turns off all processing, displaying the raw image. This reduces lag so much that I can even do a speedrun through Mario on my NES as fast as I could on a CRT.

The cheap 32" TV I got for my gaming rig doesn't have a "game mode", but it also doesn't have noticeable input lag...at least, not any worse than my Samsung 24" monitor that it replaced.

I'm also a "60 Hertz is enough" gamer, so maybe the higher refresh TVs have more lag. This particular one only does 60Hz, and I vSync it.

my choice was tough because of a limited budget ( upgrading cpu and SSD) and the fact that i want to do school work or photo editing work on this monitor as well as play league of legends and bf3. the higher refresh won't really affect me and the IPS panel will be much easier on the eyes. the BenQ monitor appealed to me at first until i saw the horrible comments about the screen developing blue lines of stuck pixels 3 months into owning it. and 27' monitor is way too big for me. i have a second monitor for text that i keep on the side.
