Advice on Upgrade

Thread Starter
With the new R series cards and reasonable price point I am wondering if it is finally time to upgrade my video graphics cards. My current system is as follows with a dual HD6970s running in crossfire. I am sure I could sell the HD6970s on ebay at a reasonably good price since they are no longer available in the market.

ASROCK Extreme 9 motherboard
16 gig ram
AMD8350 overclocked to 4.8
Dual HD6970 in crossfire

Thanks in advance for your advice.

The R9 290 is the best price/performance card at this moment and those 4GB with a 512bit bus really look nice biggrin.gif and more importantly it will perform much better than your current CFX set up and use half the power thumb.gif

^this.

But, if your just looking to get higher FPS, I would stick with your 6970s. In synthetic benchmarks you would probably get 10 - 20 FPS less with a 290.

Now this info is based off of what I actually just saw a 6970 xfire set up do yesterday and a 290x do.
