Need Suggestion on z87 motherboards

Thread Starter
I am trying to set up my gaming rig with 4770k.
Still stuck at some mobo choices.
The ones i have shortlisted

1) Asus Maximus VI hero
2) Asrock Fatality Z87 Killer
3) MSI Z87 GD-65

Any suggestion would help , i am considering asrock as its the latest among all and have decent features.

Thnx:)

As long as you stick with a quality brand, it really doesn't matter what z87 board you get. I really like my ASUS Hero though. It's a great board with a ton of good features.

Nothing against Gigabyte, i have not used them before thats it .I have had good experience with Asus but that was sometime back .Recently Asrocks boards are getting good reviews on Anandtech and other website , so i am curious and of course it doesn't burn a hole in the pocket smile.gif . Do you recommend any Gigabyte z87 board

Depends on what type you want?

All around or something made for overclocking or gaming?

Boards don't matter for overclockability. Linus Sebastian did a test between the cheapest z87 itx board he could find versus the asus maximus extreme and there was like a 100mhz difference, I believe. For haswell, you pick the board with the features/look you want.

Check out the gigabyte z87x-oc. Especially if you have not purchased your CPU yet. Its currently on new egg for around $185. With $30 rebate. Brings it down to $155. But if you get the combo with the 4770k you also get an additional $35 discount. Bringing the cost of board and CPU to $440 after rebate ($470 before rebate). Plus new egg tosses in a $20 gift card on top of that.

If it has the features you want/need I would say it would be one to add to your options. I don't personally own the board but there is a thread/owners group on this forum that would be worth a read. It seems to be a good reliable board according to the reviews I've read and the info that is the mentioned thread.
