You generally don't want to have your chip run more than 55C. Is that temp at idle, full load? Is it running stock speeds? OCed? If it's stock idle, then you have to take a look at why it's running such a high temp. If it's OCed full load, that's not bad, depending on how much the OC is.

Your friend should look into reseating and/or replacing his heatsink and/or find ways to improve airflow, although 50C is not too terrible. Is your friend hoping to OC that setup?

is it idle or load? Idle means doing nothing....load means running prime 95 on all cores.

load, that'd be alright...idle, that's awful!

Download and run Speedfan from www.almico.com/speedfan.php.

As Sideburns said, if those are his idle temps, he has a little work to do to get those down (new heatsink, better case airflow, AS5, dust cleaning, etc), but if those ae load, it's a little high for stock clocks but isn't going to hurt the chip.

If it's load, it's really not a problem..I have a 3000+ on my other pc running 50C under load, no problems there.
