Aquasuite 2013 - 3. CPU usage. Aquaero 5

Thread Starter
Ive managed to figure out how to set must everything up and things seem to be going well except for one thing....

While setting up my curves i noticed my CPU temps were higher than they should be at idle, so I looked in task manager and it says that Aquasuite is using in upwards of 30% of them CPU. That seems like an awful lot of power for such a little program....

I have an i5 4670k at 4.6ghz so it shouldnt have any problem running it.

any thoughts?

THANKS!

Its just a known problem with Aquasuite. If you have overview windows open for long periods the CPU usage will climb.

Aquacomputer have said if you limit the number of pages and animated graphs / guages it should limit it but I haven't seen any real proof that is true. I just have to keep aquasuite closed til its needed.

Mhhh, we improved the performance a lot over the last few versions. Like Jakusonfire said, if you have some heavy overview pages they can cause a larger load on the CPU. Also keep in mind that every page (overview or settings) that you click will stay active in the background as some kind of caching. So for example you have five fully loaded overview pages and click through all of them, the aquasuite will also continue to refresh all of them. Maybe just close the aquasuite and stay only within one overview page (they generate the most load) and check how this effects the performance now.

Another thing that might be possible: the graphical output is rendered through the GPU. You could get a program like GPU-Z to check if the GPU has some load when the aquasuite is running. If there is no load it would mean that everything is done through the CPU which is bad since the GPU works much more efficient. Unfortunately I will not be able to tell how this can be solved since it can have many reasons. The GPU acceleration is managed by the .NET framework itself so we have no influence on this area. If there is no acceleration it means that for some reason the system thinks you have no GPU which can be used for it.

I got rid of the preloaded overview pages and only have one now. The one I made only has 3 graphs on it so I don't think it should be that intensive. I am still getting between 11-20% usage. It seems odd to me that what I assume are simple graphs, have the ability to bog down a modern powerful CPU so much, even if a GPU should be the one handling it. It is probably my ignorance on the subject though.

I will see about doing an update to the .NET or maybe reinstalling to try and get the GPU to handle it. Thanks for the help.
