Assuming that only 2 DIMMs are populated, which is easier to overclock? 4GB stick or a 8GB stick? Or it doesn't matter much in overclockability?

Sorry Relaxy, this might not be your main concern but I really want to know. thumb.gif

I know this is late but my recommendation for you is to return it. My reason being that since you don't actually need it immediately and just have the upgrade bug, it isn't worth the money right now. DDR4 is due to release soon with the upcoming platforms and DDR3 prices will drop like how DDR2 ram prices dropped when DDR3 was released. Right now, the chip companies are raking in all the money they can by riding the 'Flood' incident so RAM prices aren't even close to what they should be.

Anyway, that's my view on this issue, if you think you can't wait for the price drops, then just keep the RAM you ordered.

P.S. It is harder to overclock 4 DIMMs versus 2 DIMMs. Causes a strain on the IMC of the CPU and it isn't going to hold up as well. smile.gif Just wanted to say that since someone mentioned they thought otherwise.

i heard its quite sometime before ddr4 is out and i wont be getting a new cpu and mobo for sometime due to money problems also i do alot of editing so i need the 16gb ive have noticed

Just wanted to add the option. smile.gif Saving money isn't a bad thing after just a bit of patience.

The size shouldn't really matter in terms of stability for overclocking. The thing that will matter is your stock vDIMM, stock timings, and stock clock. Only reason why 4 DIMMs is harder is because the IMC of the CPU is stressed 2x more versus having 2 DIMMs. smile.gif
