7800gt sli question

Thread Starter
I have a evga 7800gt and wanted to play around with sli, but wasnt sure if i needed an exact match to the card i had. Newegg has a evga 7800 card but its has a different model number. I was just wondering if it mattered.
thanks for any help.
and yes, im a newb, go easy

New drivers make it so that you can miss-match brands, even with different clock speeds.

They should work fine together. What res are you running? Unless it's 1600x1200 or higher, you won't really see a benefit from sli. If you running under that res then a 7900gt or 7950gt might be a better choice and scrap sli for now.

hey guys after sli no matter what res i ran (usualy 1024by768 and 1280/1024) i noticed a huge amount of frame gain so i dont know if running at any higher makes a difference for me. its till kicks the crap out of one 7600gs though!
