What feelings do you have about "Battle Pirates'

The maintenance man at my apartment complex came by asking for me to give an opinion on an Alienware PC he wanted to buy. I asked what his use was going to be and he said he was all wrapped up in this online game called "Battle Pirates" by Kixeye. To me the game looks like a way to get you to spend money (along the lines of "Farmville"). I think I have him convinced to let me build him a rig so my question is, what does the gaming community think about "Battle Pirates"?

A facebook game really doesn't need an expensive computer to play, especially an alienware pc. I've never played it, as I dont have a facebook, so I can't really give much of an opinion on the game . I'd imagine a simple AMD APU rig would run it just fine biggrin.gif

Hello LordofTots, The maintenance man is thinking he needs the biggest most powerful rig. Game specs from Kixeye say a multi core cpu at 3.0ghz minimum, no mention of minimum gpu. I let him play on my i7 970 folding rig (clocked to 4.05GHz) with an old reliable 275 gpu and 6 gigs of memory, he was satisfied. I think I will put him in a I7 930 rig with 2gb less memory and no water cooling (same 275 gpu). These Facebook games seem to work best with a excellent speced internet connection. I try and explain up and down bandwidth theory to him and he really does not grasp the idea. I am afraid he will blame the rig when the problem is a poor bandwidth.

Yeah facebook games dont take much to run, it's the bandwith that he'll need. I'd just get a A10-6800k or A8-6600k rig and call it a day. Unless of course you already have parts for him.
