[Hexus] AMD FX processors won’t get Steamroller cores in 2014 - Page 15

Sad news is sad... Evolution of CPUs slowing down now. AMD not giving us much, and Intel can get lazy by giving us smaller performance boosts on their next gen CPUs as there is no point in big improvements when AMD is not giving them a run for their money at all. Also, seems my current PC might never get an upgrade - I'll wait til my next build and see if things change by then or I will have to invest money into Intel.

If AMD had to divert resources away from making a AM3+ successor to furthering HSA, so be it. HSA, if executed properly, is a major game changer.

Can we point out that AMD needed to focus its efforts and budgets on specific products to try and have less dependence on big core CPU's? Sure, I am just as dissappointed that FX is not getting updated, but I can fathom why it is not happening. AMD just doesn't have enough money and they decided to sacrifice in the higher end segment. Hopefully this will change in 2015 but I doubt it. They will keep focusing on improving APU's.

A 10x speedup with it on a hardware level
A 40x speedup with it on a hardware level and dedicated code
A 130x speedup with it on hardware level coded in assembler

The HSA gods called it

As I've said before multiple times, focusing on APUs is not abandoning the high-end market, especially if they can get HSA working like they envisioned it. Their APUs would stomp all over Intel offerings in HSA implemented software.

My first build was an Athlon XP 2600+ T-Bred and I've only built AMD rigs since but my new build will be Intel come early next year. Time to switch to the darkside.

Not too fussed to be honest, It's not like i'd expect AMD to bring the next big thing for CPUs within the next year, I'd like to give then time to catch up, and by 2015 I'd hope they would've done that.
They're rolling quite fine as it is, though.
Their APUs and GPUs seem to be earning them a substantial amount of profit.
