Is G-Sync as cool as they say it is?

Thread Starter
I have been debating for a while between getting a 290x or GTX 780 and it seems most people reccomend getting the 290x. I was just about final with my decision until I read up on nVidias new g-sync. Is it really going to make that big of a difference that I should go with the 780? Some people say that g-sync will only really make a difference with low FPS which I shouldnt run in to with a top end card anyway. Others say it will smooth out even at higher fps. What do you guys think? Either way i know i should wait for after market cooling if i do go with the 290. Thanks.

From what Ive read.

GSYNC will not only cost you more dollar per performance for a GPU, you're going to have to buy a monitor to utilize it which arent supposed to be released until 2014.

It also wont work with every game.

Id grab the 290x now. See how g sync actually pans out and what the monitors will actually cost then if you really want it, ebay the 290x and buy whatever nvidia card you want

Is it cool? Yes but is it worth buying a new monitor to be able to use it? Simply put, nope.

I suppose you'll have to see how it all pans out.
To me, Gynsc will be a massive step forward in this department.
Whether it'll be worth it? I don't know. You're going to be massively limited on which monitor(s) you can buy.
And the ones that you can will be costly.

Gives an idea...
