Really weird dips in Borderlands 2 frame rate.

Thread Starter
As the thread name implies my framerate in Borderlands 2 just tanks in certain areas of the game like the forge, the fight up to the bunker, and most of thousands cuts just kills my framerate to where the average is well below 30 FPS. I play @ 1080p by the way.

System Spec's:
  • Core i7 920 @ 4.01ghz, 4.14v
  • P6X58-WS Mobo
  • 2 GTX 680's in SLI (2gb cards).
  • 24gb of 1600 DDR3
  • CPU and the 2 GPU's are cooled by a custom water loop btw.\
  • Windows 8.1 Pro

Steps taken to try and resolve the issue:
  • Uninstall and Reinstall the game
  • Installed newest GPU driver
  • Disable SLI
  • Disable Physx
  • Disabling all AA
  • Watched CPU usage during gameplay (max usage tops out @ 40%)

Now is there anything else I can do try and resolve these framerate issues with Borderlands 2 or I'm I just going to have to live with it until I decide to build a new system ?

P.S. This is the only game giving me these sorts of issues btw.

The same thing happens to me, especially in thousand cuts. I think its something wrong with the engine personally. Try dialing back some settings in nvidia control panel as these can conflict with some game profiles and tank your fps. Additionally IIRC super high levels of AA just don't really work in BL2 which is why I usually play at 4x.
