Is this monitor set-up possible?

Hey all, wondering if a configuration such as I would like to do is even possible, and if so, how?

Here is the situation/set-up: I currently have my desktop pc (fx8350 w/ 7870 crossfire) that I use for everything from gaming to video/movie watching to school/work stuff (network engineering,so basically lots of virtualization, where screen real estate is very handy). What I would like to do is to have this pc hooked up to the monitors on my desk (3x 1080p screens, the left most one configured as portrait and gaming is only on single middle monitor) as well as have it hooked up to my tv (40", 1080p samsung lcd). I never use the tv or the monitors on the desk at the same time.

Right now, Each of these configurations is no problem, but I would like to be able to easily switch between these two configurations, but I am not aware of a way I can achieve this without having to unplug/plug in cables when switching. I can set up what I guess you would call a 3 + 1 monitor set up and have the tv basically an accessory/auxiliary display, but this is not really what I want.

When I use the TV, I want it to act as if it was my only monitor (so that windows does not open up programs on or extend onto other screens, etc, as the TV and monitors are not used at the same time). Right now, it functions as ANOTHER display. I can set in options to "make this my main display", but for me alot of windows and things will still open or extend to the other monitors which are not in use, which is my problem.

The monitors are hooked up with DVI, Displayport and Displayport, and the TV is HDMI. Is there some software or settings configuration or something that would allow me to switch between mode 1- 3 monitors on my desk only, and mode 2- single display TV only??

Any input/advice is greatly appreciated, thanks!

Pretty sure this is possible through CCC (Catalyst Control Center) using Presets or Desktop Management

Seems like you go in and click on the arrow on the top right of the display and "Create Group" you can create several groups and switch between them (IIRC its been awhile since my Main was hooked up to more than 2 monitors/TVs)

Ok so I can make a group for the monitors and set the TV in its own separate group.

So I can switch between the groups and only one or the other is active? also how is the switching done?

Pretty sure what you want to accomplish can be done in CCC. Just create your groups and then save them as a "preset." This will enable you to switch between your groups with just a click.

I have mine set up were I have a 3x1 eyefinity group and a normal group where each monitor is independent.

ok great. can I set a hardware key (maybe one of the F keys) to switch between the presets?

The reason I am wondering for that is for example if I have group 1 preset as just the tv and i want to turn on my computer and use my monitors, it would be great to be able to switch the that group 2 preset with the keyboard rather than have to turn on the tv, and select it in the settings.

Yes, you can assign hotkeys to your presets.
