Can i run two different cards for different tasks?

Sup, intresting question for you all. I posted a while back in the distributed computing about having a second ATI card in my computer dedicated to mining bitcoins / litecoins (not going to bring that discussion into here, but just so you know what the purpose is.)

The plan::
Current card - 670 - Running my computer as it does now, playes games etc.
Second card - 7950 (subject to change) - dedicated to a piece of software using that card to mine.

Would that be possible? The general plan is to have it in my computer doing is background tasks, but not affecting my computer performance (obviously the CPU would have a little more work, but with an I7 OC'd to 4GHz, i don't think i would notice too much of a difference.
Thanks in advance!

Will work fine.

I did it awhile ago with 3 different cards 2 were for mining.
Back then you just needed to have something plugged into the video output to keep them in full power mode. But there were talks of drivers that would fix that problem. So that might not be a issue anymore.
