This is what im thinking, pls throw any advice u can my way as im new to this, oh and I'll be oc'ing the cpu to 4.3gb or so just using an online guide.

Budget $3-$4k Australian
Case:
Corsair obsidian 750d
Cpu:
i7 4770k
Cpu cooler:
Thermaltake water 2.0 performer
Gpu:
MSI gtx780 lightning 1033mhz w/tripple force
Mobo:
Asus z87 - deluxe
Psu:
Corsair ax1200i
Ram:
Corsair 16gb (2x8gb) 2400mhz vengeance
Ssd/hdd:
Samsung 840 256gb ssd
Western digital 4tb caviar black
Optical:
Cheap dvd-rw
Os:

That all comes in at close to $4k ...will it do the trick or is there something I should change?

I'd consider something a little heftier than the performer cooler, especially if you are planning to overclock. I have the Thermaltake extreme 2.0 and a 24/7 clock of 4.6, but Haswell runs really hot. If i had have known how addictive OCing was i would have gone for a custom loop kit straight up (could probably reach 5.0GHz on my cpu with custom loop). All depends on whether or not you wanna push your OC (given how CPU heavy BF4 is it is worth considering).

Also, in terms of OS, i would consider Win 8.1. People are having FPS issues with BF4 on Win 7.

Ok so I'll upgrade to a water 2.0 extreme and win 8.
24/7 @ 4.6 sounds good, is that on a 4770k? And is it easy enough to get as a noob following online guides?

If you have the confidence and the coin to spend, i would get a custom loop kit like this:
http://www.pccasegear.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=207_160_45&products_id=24225&zenid=761ab0be0ec43194fca8a17e75e52a0a

I'll likely be upgrading in the next month or so to a similar EK kit just because i want the 5Ghz (for no other reason than i just want it!).

I have a Gigabyte Z87-OC Motherboard and the 4770K and am stoked with my choices. I really dig the mobo and with this thread and a couple of weeks of messing around i got to 4.6 pretty easily.

Just keep in mind that it all depends on how you fair in the chip lottery as to how well you will be able to OC it. I did ok, it wasn't golden but it was the top 50% comfortably.

This thread is also crazy helpful to get the Hurtz you're looking for.

Welcome to OCN

You dont need 1200 watts for one video card

1200 is enough for 4 video cards

550 watts is all you need unless you are going to overvolt that GTX 780
