New graphics card, looking heavily into AMD

Hey guys! I have a question for you all. I currently have a EVGA GTX 460 thats really starting to show age. I've always been an nvidia type of person and was thinking about getting a GTX 770. I got to reading about the R9 290 from AMD and I am intrigued. I plan on playing Crysis 3, BF4, CoD: Ghosts, and the like. I know nvidia has some pretty neat software features and such and that's why I usually go with them, but does it really matter in the end? I want the best performance possible across most games and from what I've seen the R9 290 usually beats a 770 and a 780 sometimes as well. So, what do you think I should get? Thanks in advance!

Looking at these:

I would go with the 780 or wait for aftermarket 290's.

Thanks guys. Is there a reason you are staying away from the 290? I know that the card is louder than most but the noise wont bother me that much. I can see the heat being a concern?

OP you might want to wait till dec 2nd week for custom r9 290 cards like asus dcii top or his iceq x2. the stock cooler gets loud at 65% fan speed and above. if you are overclocking you will need to run the fan at those speeds to avoid throttling. you could slap an accelero xtreme iii on your own but the better option would be to wait for the partner versions, particularly the asus dcii top which is easily the quietest cooler

R9 290/X AIB Cards

Just talked to AMD as well as three big AIB partners and AMD as well as one big AIB told me that we should expect to see custom R9 290 and 290X cards in etail the second week of December. FYI..
