What case should I get from this list? - Page 2

Have you seen this case yet?

Corsair Air 540
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811139022

It has a large footprint, but, that double chamber design should be a pleasure to build with. It will fit the H100 with ease.

Yeah, I might be a little biased, but out of those four, I'm gonna have to say the Switch 810. Its a crowd favorite for a reason. It provides an exceptionally solid case if you don't want to mod, and provides an incredible slate to start a mod on. And it has exceptional support for damn near anything.

I've seen the Thor irl (and the Blackhawk Ultra too) (was actually going to buy it before I bought my Switch 810), but its lacklustre build quality overall just put me off it.

If you are going to get the Throne, then you might as well get a Phantom 630/820, both of which are better quality/choices.

The Blackhawk is about the closest competitor to the Switch 810. You do have to mod the daylights out of the case to make it look anywhere near as beautifully designed as the Switch 810 (i.e. start with modding a side window, then modding HDD bay covers, etc.). Its a lot of work, and provides a solid clean slate.

But for overall use, the Switch 810 just really beats those four choices. Yeah, its the crowd favorite, but its there for a reason. It provides the most amount of options in a 'vanilla' state.

Not to mention, unlike Rosewill, NZXT has utterly fantastic support if you ever have any problems (have a rep or two floating around here :P). I broke the power button/HDDActivityLED/OnLED cable while installing my loop in the case, and asked them if I could get a replacement, and that I'd be willing to pay for it. They ended up shipping me a brand new one free. They do tend to go above and beyond compared to Rosewill's support.

And honestly, if you want a unique case, the Switch 810 looks a lot more unique than a gigantic rectangular box with mesh around it.

Rosewill aren't horrible cases. The issue I have with them are more the fact it's obvious they rip off case ideas, and don't put enough thought into their designs.

I have the Rosewill R5. It isn't a bad case, but, it always seems like something is even not there, or just not enough. Some issues being, no spots to tie off to in corners, and the mobo tray cpu cut out being off just enough to not allow replacement of the cpu cooler without pulling the mobo.

As far as build strength, the parts that I assumed would be a issue have held up well to my constant in and out.

That said, though acceptable cases, I wouldn't buy them if spending 120+ on a case.

I'm personally getting the case I posted above soon. Has space for various radiators, and will easily fit 2 lard GPU.

Im not worried about fitting the two GPU's, Im worried about cooling them. My 800D does an abysmal job of it, even with the side panel off. I can't even overclock them ATM, I have to underclock. And yes rosewills lower end isnt great, but the Rosewill Blackhawk Ultra is so good, that Enermax copied it.
I am now considering the Coolermaster Haf X.

Honestly, I love the look of the Blackhawk ultra over the Switch 810. I dont care about side panel windows, they are nice, but I can see through the mesh just as well. I am 100% focused on cooling performance. Plus Im not one for modding, otherwise I might stick with this 800D. Which Im not going to. Most I'll do is paint.

I agree with you on that. I find Rosewill cases to be extremely spartan in design, and sexy because of it.

They look great with just the right touch of lighting, and a digital fan controller.

Blackhawk Ultra gets my vote from those choices. I just ditched my Rosewill Thor V2 White and i had a Haf 932 Black before that. I liked the styling of the Thor and that's really why i bought it, but the 932 was abit nicer in terms of easily build. Now that ive got my 900D and seeing its quality/style i would not pick any of these on the list biggrin.gif
