Looking at finally getting an SSD, thoughts on this particular one?

Hey Overclock,

I'm finally getting around to buying an SSD. With BF and pre-BF deals abounding, now seems like as good a time as any to buy. I'd be using the drive for my OS and a fair number of my most-played Steam and Origin games, so I'd be looking at 240GB+ for capacity. There seems to be a lot of good stuff at around $150 for that capacity, and one particular drive and deal I saw is this, an Intel 530 240GB for $150. Is that a pretty good option? Can I expect to find anything much better for around the same price, or around as good for a significantly better price?

Thanks for any time and assistance,
-JM

In my personal opinion for gaming at least as long as the drive is sata 3, the rest doesn't make a huge difference. Very very minimal difference in load times from what I've seen from a gaming perspective. Go for Sata 3, warranty, manufacturer and price.

that being said, there are a few SLOW drives out there. Check the Anandtech benches to be sure its decent before purchasing.

OCZ, Intel, samsung are the three companies I usually buy mine from and would recommend any of them.

Intel 530 for $150 is actually a very good deal.
Intel usually never sells their SSDs for that cheap (they charge a price premium for the Intel branding).
The drive comes with a 5-year warranty, custom firmware, good SSD management software and Intel's reputation for reliability.

Hear great things about Samsung Evo drives. Still using a crucial M4, so look at crucial drives.
