His voltages are stable, his ram passed memtest for hours but even if he is underclocked with increased vcore, the system is still unstable and fails prime quickly.
He has the dual core fix installed and a format has not helped.

What could be the cause of this?

TRY uninstalling the "dual core fixes" You may need to reformatt. That solved my freeze up problem when i first got my AMD. The "fixes" did waaaay more harm than good.

After reading the whole thread, i am pretty sure this will fix ur problem. I had to reformatt. Ask urself this question.... did it only start freezing AFTER installing the dual core fix?

i had a 2 week uptime, power went out. i didnt change ANYTHING. none of the settings, didnt install anything. then i started getting random lag spikes that gradually started getting worse. now it wont even turn on.

i'm getting lag spikes like mad. listening to music goes in slow motion for several seconds...everything is laggy, i can still play games. i can run dual prime95, superpi 32m's, etc...system seems to be alright, but its just slow. any idea? i'm going to try to pick up a DMM tomorrow to check my PSU out.

and i'm ordering some thermal compound right now, going to reseat the processor. chip creep...hmmm...i doubt it, but you never know.

you guys sound like you know what your doing, but have you tried isolating each component? If you got another s939 board check out that cpu first. If alls well, and we know your ram is OK, I would look towards a bad cmos or other part on the mobo itself. Also try installing with only one drive, one ram stick, one optical drive, one vidcard and see if the problem still persists. I had a similar experience after a bad Netframework 2.0 install and CCC install that only a reformat would fix, relating too the lag and bsod's which would go away for abit if I downclocked my cpu. Fixed it with a complete format, but your problems still feel like they may be hardware related. Good luck and post your solution if you manage it. My DFI board was finicky as hell with PSUs. Also check out DFI street and see if they can help if your problem is mobo related.
