Question about WC loop

Thread Starter
I currently have an H220 (has a 290, soon to have an additional 240mm rad). I've been expanding bit by bit as I can grab pieces with the goal of going full custom in the future (selling off the H220 to help recoup). I'm a bit confused about pumps though. I see pumps, pump tops and all this other stuff. What do I get? I know I'll be using a tube res (just got a Corsair Air 540 and will be using both bays), but I'm stuck after that. Can I grab any pump? Do I need a top (whatever it does)?

I have seen things like this: http://www.frozencpu.com/products/19627/ex-pmp-236/EK_DCP_22_X-RES_Pump_and_Reservoir_Combo_-_Acetal_-_Professionally_Installed.html?tl=g30c107s152 which I assume would work fine. But if I wanted a different pump to go with a bigger res, what would I look for?

Loop when fully custom would be res->pump->rad->cpu->rad->gpu->res (Currently res/rad->pump/cpu->gpu->res/rad). Thanks!

EDIT: Also, if one wanted to add a drain line, what's the best way to do that (what would be needed, where to place it in relation to the pump, etc)?

A pump with a top is just a pump and rez in one unit or it may be a pump with a special, high performance body, or both.

Check Martin's liquid Lab for pump tests

Look into a fill tube instead of a rez.
Drain line at the lowest point. Just add a Tee.
