Since when has Microsoft ever actually fixed the broken stuff between service packs? Unless you are talking about very minor bugs and stuff, which they are constantly trying to fix, while others work on the service packs.
I'm thinking 8.2 might go to beta in late January, at the earliest, but can't see it going live that soon. If it was we'd already hear about RTM versions right now. And I am honestly not expecting any large changes to windows 8 until they put a new CEO. I'd imagine they continue the course for the moment.
