AC4 keyboard mapping....

Thread Starter
Hey guys i am playing AC4 currently. Overall nice game but have run into some issues.

I cant bind right side of the keyboard,i.e, i cant bind right shift,rt alt, rt ctrl or enter!! I am used to using arrow keys for movement and hence it has made the game unplayable(while using arrow keys.) Also, i am either using the default controls or have to use an xbox controller for pc (which i am not used to at all and find it tough for some things)

Is there any way i can tweak so as to use right shift and other keys?
Also, i am getting low fps on high settings with vsync on, and god rays go back to low settings.

My current settings are :-

1360x768 @ 60hz
environment detail - very high
texture -high
aa- 2x msaa
other settings high with motion blurr off and vsync off.

With vsync off i get alot of screen tearing but better framerate, vsync on causes alot of lag.
Which aa is the best for performance/quality and which one shud i use?

Need your advice on the same. Especially on the keyboard thing.

Thanks. biggrin.gif

The god ray's thing is because of eagle vision as soon as you use it reverts back to low, that is a game problem.
The low framerate can be because of the game's vsync, i recommend using radeonpro with dynamic vsync.
The msaa is a low perfomance impact, but alternatively you can also use radeonpro for smaa with a even lower perfomance impact,
And finally the keyboard mapping, This should be the fix for that:

You CAN bind right shift and stuff but you need the decimal scan codes for the keys and add them to your key config file in your document folder.
I am using right shift and right control for running and eagle eye vision.

Good luck!

Thanks for the reply friend.

Can you explain how to find decimal scan codes for my keyboard? I mean are they different for different keyboards?

I hope they patch the keyboard issue. But dont think the patch will arrive untill next month and by that i would have completed the game. Dont know why they did this, should have left the controls the way they were like in ac3. Also can u change the xbox controller mappings too? Cause they are different too and have to use B for block instead of A which is a lil difficult.

Check this site.
There is a list with all hex and dec scan codes for every key on your keyboard.(Make sure you use the dec numbers and not the hex!)
Find the key config in my documents to add it.

I'd try the program mentioned here to find out the codes: http://superuser.com/questions/293609/windows-7-tool-to-capture-keyboard-scan-codes

The numbers are all decimal, not hex.

Hmm... no that I look at it, I don't know if that's exactly the same as on PC.

That's a good one indeed.
As he can see for himself if his keyboard got 101 or 102 key's but most keyboard's have 101 for the exception of G buttons on gaming boards but those are software controlled.
Not that it would make a difference as he would map the right side where all the dec numbers are the same.

No that page I first linked, that was totally broken. The Caps Lock key is in the bottom left, for example. Enter seems to be a different number. It's not just the added Windows keys, it's really not at all a PC keyboard in those pictures.

I could but it wouldn't be helpful as i play with a XBOX controller.
I googled the bit on the dec numbers with ac 4 controls.(Don't remember the forum i found it on)
So maybe somebody else can help you with that
