AMD Driver stops responding issues, r9 290.

Thread Starter
So I've had this issue across 2 7850s and now my 290, and I've come to my wits end. I've reinstalled Windows, run 4 full passes on my RAM, replaced my PSU, and of course, the graphics cards.

I've tried different displays, different ports, and I still get the same issue. I'm really concerned that it's my Mobo, but nothing else is wrong with the exception of these driver responding issues.

Any help whatsover or things that I can try to resolve this issue?

Thanks.

When does the driver stop responding? During games, regular use?

I've had that happen occasionally with BF3 with both Nvidia and AMD cards.

It'll happen during games or normal usage. It happens in almost every game. Not just BF4. This has been happening across 3 different cards. 2 HD7850s, an ASUS 1GB DCU model and an XFX Ghost 2GB model, and my new XFX r9 290.

It would help if you fill out your PC specs.

I assume you have run intel burn test on your setup to ensure your overclock is stable?

Passes on RAM, You ran Memtest from a bootable CD?

You swapped power supply and gpu so if your CPU and RAM have no issues, then all that is left is the motherboard (especially since you have done a clean install).

One thing I have seen is I had a customer with a mouse with a cut in the wire (cat chewed on it). It would cause intermittent shorting to the USB port it was plugged into. Darndest thing took me awhile to figure out the cause. Try swapping keyboard and mouse for a day just in case.

Updated sig, thought I did it right. I ran Memtest from a bootable USB stick. I've reset all of my overclocks to stable on my CPU/Mobo/RAM, all are stock.

I'll try swapping my keyboard/mouse out, and if that doesn't work I'll file an RMA on my motherboard.

I got around the issue by adjusting the TDR registry values. I still have issues, but at least I can ignore them until I can take the time to RMA.
