[ARS] After 15 years of llama-whipping, AOL shuts down Winamp for good - Page 19

Winamp News
As you all surely know by now, Winamp & SHOUTcast have recently changed ownership (from AOL to Radionomy).

The winamp.com website is currently undergoing heavy work and an almost-completely new redesign.
As a result, many features will be unavailable, including some in-client services.

The Winamp downloads and Winamp Pro purchases will also be temporarily unavailable
whilst code licensed to/by the previous owner is removed/replaced.

We hope to have everything restored and back in working order as soon as possible,
and we apologize for any inconvenience caused in the meantime.

Watch this thread for any further updates.

I used Winamp for years, starting in high school, but since foobar2000 came along and I found out about it I made the switch and never looked back. The interface is just too simple, clean, and snappy while at the same time providing all the information I'd like to know about my audio files.

To the people complaining that it's "hard" to set up and customize and that only a linux guru would enjoy foobar I say, "wat." It takes < 10 seconds to download foobar2000 + ColumnsUI and select my favorite layout.

I used WinAmp until my music collection became too large for it to handle. I then came across MediaMonkey and have not turned back. On top of it's great performance and ability to handle large library's, it does a quite good job at cleaning up your messy library (tagging, scraping names, art, etc.)

Using it right now to stream Chilltrax from Shoutcast. I use it every day while I am working.

Chilltrax has a browser streaming option but it is buggy as fck, plus sometimes I want to switch to another Shoutcast station.
