MSI Z87-GD65 vs. ASUS Maximus VI Formula

I was looking at these two boards for a 4770k build.

Seeing as how my application will likely realistically be primarily gaming, is there any reason to go with the MVI Formula over the MSI gaming board? To be honest it just seems aesthetically prettier and does have the water block on the board.

I plan on running dual-SLI at the moment, possibly upgrading to other cards at dual SLI, or crossfire in the future.

Also, everything will be under water and OC'D as much as possible biggrin.gif

Thanks!

How about a 3rd choice? http://www.asrock.com/mb/Intel/Z87%20OC%20Formulaac/index.us.asp?cat=Specifications

When it comes to the z87/haswell platform, IMO ASROCK is top tog, by a pretty wide margin. And this is coming from a long time ASUS fan.

And if you want to go one step further up the ladder there is the ASROCK z87 ExtremeX/ac lineup as well too.

Thanks for the additional suggestion. How about the asrock fatality Z87 Professional or Killer as well as contenders? (As you can tell I prefer the red and black, largely due to the rest of my watercooling components lol)

If it has the features that YOU want, no reason why not. Im big on the actual quality of the board and the components used. ASROCK boards use high quality components.........caps, chokes, mosfet chips, quality 8 layer pcb board etc etc.........they just happen to also be the best when it comes to inputs/outputs as well too.

If onboard sound(especially through headphones) is really important to you, go with the "Purity sound" option on the board. I know There is a Creative3d sound chip option........but its nowhere near as good IMO as the ALC1150 chip in the Purity Sound setup.
