Corsair Vengeance 1400?

I was just wondering if anybody owns a set of these or has any knowledge of them. These seem to be a decent headset for my needs but I would love to hear some input from others. Currently I have a very old set of Turtle Beach Ear Force x1's and they have done more than I have ever expected them too but they are reaching the end of their life. I had seen the Vengeance 1500's and was interested until I saw that they were usb and that is pretty much out of the question. I use my headset on my main rig and on my laptop but my laptop only had 3 usb ports which are taken up by my cooling pad, mouse, and mechanical keyboard. I saw the 1400's and they seem to fit my needs and budget without being too gimmicky so I am hoping to hear some good things. Any input is very much appreciated. smile.gif

I had the 1500's for a short while. I'll compare these directly with the Corsair 1300's which aren't USB. Didn't like them - they clamp too much even for a medium sized head and the sound is.... well OK. Probably a gamer wouldn't notice. Sound good with movies and gaming with Dolby virtual surround sound: good up to a point. You won't be whoring with these as it all sounds really congested.

Mic is good. TBH get a pair of Creative Aurvana Live's and a clip on mic.

If you've not already read this then check it out: http://www.head-fi.org/t/534479/mad-lust-envys-headphone-gaming-guide-updated-9-2-2013-sony-ma900-added. Very best all-in-one collection of reviews for gaming headphones and headsets in the English speaking world. Somebody should hire him, as opposed to the useless review site goons who occasionally review sound gear and try to give the impression that they know 'stuff'.

Thank you very much for the input and to that list. Its nice to have as much info as possible before making a decision on getting something, especially on a budget. I do really want a new headset, but I may wait just a bit longer and spend a little more to get something nice. From that list and others it seems as if you can get good products for under $100 but there is a huge improvement in the products above that mark. +Rep to you. thumb.gif
