Recommended ram and cpu cooler

Thread Starter
Will be trying to max out bf4, arma3, pcars, and others on an i7 4770k, GA UD4H, and 780ti (already purchased). Can someone please recommend the best ram and cpu cooler that will work well together with this combo? Thank you.

What kind of budget are you on? Are you OK using liquid cooling kits (like Corsair Hydro series, for example) or are you just wanting air only? Air will ultimately give you less problems, but could limit choices for RAM. Also, what case do you have?...just want to get an idea how much room you have to work with. smile.gif

Regarding RAM, I remember reading a blog from Corsair not long ago that showed high-speed RAM making a substantial improvement in BF4. TBH, it's just one game but may be something to consider if you find a good deal on a high-speed kit. In general, however, I wouldn't make a point of looking for something like a 2400 MHz+ kit as most games don't benefit. DDR3-1600 or 1866 is good for most gaming rigs, IMO. I've had lots of kits from G.Skill and they've treated me well (this or this might interest you)...but in general most stuff from Corsair, Patriot, Mushkin, and Kingston will be good.

With the fit, the RipjawsX are low profile enough that they shouldn't interfere with some of the bigger air coolers out there. I ran a set of RipjawsX with a Noctua D-14, for example, and had no troubles with it fitting. thumb.gif

RAM:
As suggested above, have a look at G.Skill Ripjaws
They seem to be the best choice these days as far as price/speed is considered.

Air Coolers:
Either Noctua NH-D14 or be quiet! Dark Rock Pro 2

AIO Liquid Coolers:
Corsair H100i or Swiftech H220

I am building a rig with the 4770k as well and I will be running G.Skill RAM and the H100i Corsair cooler. Knowing what case and budget you have will help us determine what the best option for you would be. Also air or water?

Noctua NH-U14S comes close to the D14 but does not take up as much space

The smaller U12S takes up even less space

And with that one you dont really have to worry about if you have tall RAM or not

A bit off topic but JambonJovi did you know that your PSU has fake 80 plus gold rating?

No real budget just looking for best performance. Would definitely prefer air (or a closed loop is ok I guess if the warranty covers any damage to other parts like the 780ti smile.gif at this time and noise is no problem as the computer is in another room. Case is cm cosmos 1000. Thanks for all the feedback.

But once the PSU get above 30c its no longer does gold but silver

Cougar cheated their way to gold

No worries, just kidding.
I do appreciate the heads up tho thumb.gif
Thought I did quite a bit of research when I was looking for a PSU.
Obviously not... Will take my time when I'm building my new rig next year.
Cheers
